COMPUTER FUNDAMENTALS Computer :Computer is an electronic device that performs high-speed processing of numbers, text, graphics, symbols and sound . A computer consists at least one processing element such as CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT(CPU) and any form of memory . CPU performs arithmetic and logical operations sequentially based on stored program on it . Peripheral devices allow information to be retrieved from an external source and the results of operations saved and retrieved from it.A general purpose computer has four main components CPU, Memory, Input devices and Output devices. These parts are connected by buses or a group of wires. Inside of these parts there are thousands to trillions small electrical circuits. A single circuit represents a bit(binary digit) of information. So we know that binary digit consists 0's,and 1's. Each circuit represents '1' when it is switched on and '0' when it is switched off. |
